Goals - 2011

“If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time."  -Zig Ziglar

Physical  {the hardest and the one that involves the most time & energy}
Eliminate the pain in my shoulders, upper back and neck.
  •  Commit to one massage a week or 4 hours a month
  •  Continue seeing Mindy for Adjustments and Taping
  • Personal Training once a week- minimum of 1 hour per week
  • Research and try one new thing per week
  • Buy a new bed and mattress before end of year
  • Drink 3 bottles of water/day

Financial {must continue to be diligent in my savings and think about my future retirement lifestyle}
 A total of $65,000 in my cash maximizer account, be pre-qualified for a new home loan, and complete my financial goals worksheet and actions.
  • Need to put away $2,500 a month in savings!
  • Start reaching out to lendors in the beginning of November to get pre-qualed
  •  Meet with COX HR, Matt Greene, Dad, & Jaclym Weitzberg to ensure I am on right path
Mental {my Spanish still needs a lot of work STILL and due to my financial goal I am eliminating the classes and doing 100% self study, so I will need to be even more self-disciplined.  I also want to look at a few other ideas like joining a Spanish Meetup/ Doing Community Service work in Mexico, ect- that will force me to practice my Spanish and reach outside my comfort zone}
Become conversational in the Spanish language.
  • Do 1 chapter in my workbook a week
  • Buy Audio CDs and spend 50% of my driving time listening.
  • Write one FB message/wall post/email in Spanish a week
  • Force myself to practice it every chance I get even if I feel stupid
Family {I am committed to come home twice as much as last year, and will refuse to have these 15 days be part of any funerals/ grievance leave.  I am also working on strengthening my relationships with my extended family and my cousins}
Go back home twice this year- for a total of at least 15 days.  Plan 2 family outings that promote harmonious relationships and quality togetherness time.

Career  {I am a little disappointed that I made 2 grand more in 2008 then in 2009 since one of my goals is to incrementally increase my earnings year after year.  I really want to focus on building up my referral business to the point it would never make sense to leave the position I am in due to the constant influx of high quality leads and sales coming in}
Calculate the percentage of where my sales are coming from, and figure out the dollar amount (and the % to goal) that is referral business.  Devise a plan to increase my referral business by double in 2012.

Personal {Last year I was able to go to Dallas, Hawaii, and a lot of areas within LA: I want to add one more vacation this year and increase the duration of these vacations; I really need to start actually using all my vacation days at work as well. Staying with friends has enabled me to afford more trips while also solidifying and strengthening my friendships.}
Go on 4 vacations this year (1 more than last year) – with one international trip (going home doesn’t count).   Possible destinations include Daytona Beach, Seattle, Grand Canyon, Mexico, & Yosemite National Park.

The Balancing Equation of Postive Energy

People always ask why I am so positive, nice and trusting of people, even complete strangers.  I am sure it has to do a lot with my upbringing and the person who I strive to be.  Not to mention, I obtain satisfaction when I see that my actions make other people happy- it is a great feeling that, in turn, brings profound contentment to my life.
As of lately, I am trying to operate more in the present, which can be a truly daunting and difficult task.  People, who know me, know that I truly am my worst critic.  It is like my mind and I are two separate entities: mortal enemies, in fact.  It really is a double edge sword because my mind drives me to achieve my goals, but at the same time it always yearns for more and I live in the pursuit of perpetual challenge, never stopping to celebrate victories or simply take a moment to look around and be at peace.
Part of being present is being totally aware and engaged in your current activity and surroundings. I like to pretend I am doing the activity for the very first time which heightens my conscious awareness.  When I am operating in the present, I get an incredible power and an energy that I want to share. In sharing this with others, I transform into something larger than myself.  A simple compliment, smile or encouraging someone to see their self-worth and true potential can create a ripple effect and true grounds for a transformation.

I see myself as a positive person, but there are times, such as the last few days, where I just don’t feel myself.  We all have those days where you just feel blahh and go through the motions anxious to come home, retire to your bed and awake to a new beginning.  Blame it in on insomnia, poor health, a tragedy or just a bad day.  Even in these last few days (gloomy mood coupled with gloomy weather), I was able to witness something miraculous that validates the power of Karma.

I now believe that by inspiring others when you’re in your "highs" gives you a “money reserves” of karma that is returned when you enter your “lows”.  Without me feeling sorry for myself by falling behind in work while simultaneously making my best effort to remain in the present this week, so many positive things came to fruition.  I was able to secure 2 appointments with the IT Directors of two larger San Diego companies that I have been trying to make traction with for over six months, I found out that one of my dearest friends is not only coming to San Diego but has managed to get me tickets to the Chargers and Patriots game this Sunday (something I have been wanting to do for a very long time), and my loan officer just called saying I can refinance and save monthly money off my mortgage without paying upfront fees.  All these things, while intrinsically satisfying, do not even come close to the personal fulfillment I received when I opened my email to 3 people not only thanking me for my encouragement and referrals, but explaining how my words and ideas lead them to action that yielded positive results both in their business lives.

So my food for thought for my first post/blog is to learn to live in the now, this in turn will give you the empowerment and energy to not only change your life but the attitude of the people around you.  Take every opportunity you can to brighten the day of a friend, a teacher, a co-worker, or even a complete stranger.  You never know what kind of day that person may be having and how your smile, words, or actions can completely transform their negative thought patterns into optimistic productivity.  Exude this positive energy unto others, and do so as if you have nothing to personally gain. This will lead to a sense of purposeful fulfillment and will enhance your own self esteem.   Karma has a way of returning this positive energy back to you when you least expect it, after all, the universe, like our government, has a system of checks and balances, make sure you can honestly say that you deserve to receive your check.
